Sterndale bennett theatre

The Sterndale Bennett Theatre was constructed adjacent to the Genevieve Yates Memorial Theatre in 1990. It was originally designed to provide much-needed rehearsal space for the Yates but with increasing demand for performing venues, the “Sterndale” was quickly repurposed to a studio theatre instead. With renovation plans in place for the Yates, the Sterndale Bennett Theatre received an update at the same time. New retractable seating provides a more versatile performance space. The addition of a full catwalk, new LED lighting, and a new sound system improve the theatre’s technical capabilities. Designated dressing rooms, a new back-of stage washroom, plus updated accessible audience washrooms and refreshed front lobby contribute to an enhanced theatre experience for all. In keeping with the more casual aspect of a studio theatre, the colour palette chosen is fresh, vibrant, and youthful.
