Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lethbridge and District (BBBS) required increased space for their administrative offices. Housed in a provincially registered historic building, any potential renovations need to be sensitive to the historic significance and integrity of this structure.
SONGER architecture inc worked closely with BBBS staff to determine how they could move forward to accommodate their current and anticipated spatial needs. This examination also reviewed the existing building condition and configuration. This programming stage informed the design for an expansion to the historic building that houses BBBS. The resultant design is sympathetic to the original 1910 structure, while providing improved accessibility and expanded work spaces to improve efficiency. Overall it was important to retain a welcoming and homey atmosphere for clients and staff, while improving functionality for all.
