Crossings branch Library EXPANSION

The Crossings Branch Library programming was growing and just beyond its east wall was over 2,000sf of unused space, the perfect size to accommodate an expansion. The client provided layout expanded the shelving through a new opening into the adjacent space. The north was to be filled with offices and washrooms. After confirming future needs with library staff, our approach reimagined the spaces to create a second opening on the north to connect with the new Indigenous area. In so doing we created better flow throughout, encouraged discovery and integration between different focuses, increased natural light, and a sense of continuity.
