The Post

Bringing the 1913 Lethbridge Post Office into the 21st Century, SONGER architecture inc and Ian Moxon Architect Inc. teamed up to renovate this iconic building. Foremost in our work was respecting the historic significance of the building, while breathing new life into it. While Canada Post remains the largest tenant, Sumus Property Group Ltd re-envisioned the remainder of the building interior as an energized business hub in downtown Lethbridge.

Our design approach was to set off the original 1913 Beaux Arts building as a historic “jewel” by intentionally bookending the original light Tyndall stone in black. The contrast helps highlight the original proportions of the Old Post Office. The Northeast entrance features warm bronze tone glazing that wraps around the corner, announcing and drawing people into the new business hub.

The combination of the resulting exterior and interior improvements have enlivened this historic building and revived its iconic façade.
